The Importance of KISS in Making Your Brochures

As you last in the industry, you will be hearing many tips about how you can implement better strategies and plans on how you go about your business as well as your advertising efforts. Have you been taught how to KISS? If you still haven't heard about the concept yet, KISS stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. It can also mean Keep It Simple and Straightforward. This is the basic thing that you must remember when you are creating your company brochures.

No matter how complicated your promotions may be or how technical you can get in explaining about your products and services, you must still find ways on how to make your brochures simple and simpler. You have to make it easy for your target market to understand the contents of the material. And first and foremost, you must make them open the tool. It must not be too intimidating that people will tend to shy away from even touching it.

So how do you keep your material simple? Here are some pointers that can guide you in achieving this goal.

1. You must know the main points that you want to tell to your target market. Your ad must revolve around them. They must guide you whether you've already said enough or you still have to add some more information in order to be better understood.

2. Create a powerful headline. If you know what message you want to arrive at, this will be easier to generate. You must use the one that will capture people's interests. But more than that, they must feel tempted to browse the material for them to read more.

It takes time for you to be able to come up with the right headline that will urge people to read more of what you have to say on your marketing tools. It must give them a good idea of what else can they expect. It must excite them to hold on to the ad and read through it before they can get carried away by your competitors' ads.

3. Make the material readable. This means that you have to use the typefaces that are easy to understand. You must also use the sizes that will make your message more legible. This must also be the first thing on your mind when you are doing the design.

Avoid using the reverse tactics in printing. You can opt for this only when you are onto something experimental or over the edge. This is a style wherein you will use a lighter color of font over a dark background, like using white fonts and graphics over a black background.

4. Use graphics that will contribute to the message to be more powerful and convincing. You cannot overload the material with too much unnecessary graphics. People's attention may be drawn to them and away from the real points that you want them to understand more.

Brochures can be done easily. Just make sure that you are equipped with the right ideas that you can share with the right people who will help you create the right materials. At the end of it all, learn how to KISS. You must always bear in mind to keep it simple and straightforward.
