There are several reasons why business owners buy business gifts. The main one, though, is to build or solidify client partnerships. If over a considerable time you have a gained a long standing customer, you hand out corporate branded business gifts to show gratitude to that customer for their loyalty. You might also decide to give a business corporate gift when a brand new customer starts to do business with you. You might also decide to give a corporate business gifts to illustrate your deep felt thanks. It goes without saying, you can even think about passing out imprinted business gifts to staff.

Ensuring people, including people that work for you, know that you highly value them and their custom is a key foundation of the relationship process. It is in everyone's make up to want to feel valued and it is not really very difficult to make someone a long lasting customer or member of staff, just by giving them a small token of your thanks.

So when should you give out promotional items? Is there a standard rule of thumb to help you to determine when you purchase promotional items and give them away? The simple answer to these key questions is yes, there are some key times when business gifting is most appropriate. Set out below is a good guide you can use. Promotional business gifts are a good idea when:

1. You decide to start some competition and motivate staff to stretch to make a quarterly or monthly mark so you arrange what is knows as an Incentive Program. Incentive Programs, when perfectly designed instill a healthy sense of competition and often increase moral. If you look into Incentive Programs you will notice there are basically two options: 1) you buy a corporate giveaway or reward and it is won by the first employee who hits the goal you put before them, and 2) you set up a program where each and every member of staff who hits the goal is given the promotional business gift.

The type of promotional gift(s) you purchase is determined by how many you are going to give away. If you are giving away only a single item you can purchase a substantially higher priced business gift; like maybe a three - day excursion somewhere or tickets to a show etc. If you are seeking to provide several individuals with the business gift, you may want to opt for ones that are less expensive.

2. Honoring customers and staff birthdays is another time when promotional gifts can be distributed. If you are handing out a business gift for a birthday to an employee, ensure you do the same for all employees. Nothing can reduce moral faster than treating one member of staff different than the others. If you are handing out business associates business gifts on their birthdays, you could consider vouchers for a discount off of their next purchase.

3. Another time, when promotional gifts might be perfect, is during various or seasonal periods of the years. You need to do this carefully as it would be culturally insensitive to offer Christmas promotional business gifts if you have employees or business associates who are not Christian.

4. We all like to honor employees who are retiring and a business retirement product is a good way to say goodbye and thank you. If you have a sizeable company, you may start up different types of retirement corporate for different numbers of years served. It would be un professional to give someone who had been with the company for 25 years the same gift item that the retiree who has been with the company 4 years receives.
