Using FL Studio

By Greg Pearson

One of the most popular DAW software packages for Windows in known as FL Studio. FL Studio is very popular among dance music makers becaue of it's drum pattern sequencer and ease of use. This does not limit the program however, it can also be used to make soundtracks and orchestral music as well.

Because of FL Studio being among the most popular music creation software out there, it is pirated very heavily. I would urge you to buy a copy if you plan to use it. Prices for it can be as low as $99 and you get free updates for life. That's right for life! Other music softwares like Reason, can cost hundreds to upgrade from say version 3 to version 4.

FL Studio can be downloaded in demo form and used as long as you want. The only limitation is the ability to save your work. One highly successful artist by the name of Soulja Boy, wrote and produced a platinum selling album using beats he created with the demo version of FL Studio.

There is no shortage of features in FL Studio compared to any other DAW on the market. AS a matter of fact it can do a lot of things other DAWs cannot like extensive automation with a formula controller. I know this sounds difficult, but it's not when you can search the internet sites like google or video sites and find FL Studio tutorials on these things.

The FL Studio help file is always a go to resource. Never think that anything is too hard until you bring up the FL Studio Help and read about the topics you are interested in. And like anything the internet if full of other resources to get you started on various related topics such as the Warbeats tutorial on how tomake a bassline. This tutorial is demonstrated in FL studio but applies to any music maker program.

Another minor niggle is the fact that the FL Studio interface sometimes uses small knobs to setvalues such as volume or panning. This is helped somewhat by holding down the CTRL key when setting the value. It will make the values increment or decrement much more slowly for setting it very precisely.

The community of FL Studio users out there is tremendous. I can't think of any other DAW beside FL Studio and maybe Reason4 that has a bigger fan base and helpful community. FL Studio has their own forums as well in which the programmers will pop in and out of. Making you feel like you have a say in the direction of the program.

If you do anything else today, download the FL Studio demo for free and look up warbeats fl studio tutorials. You will be fascinated by the things that are possible. As a longtime fan of the site, I want everyone in the FL Studio realm to be aware of this wonderful and free resource.
