The Lowdown On Steroids vs. HGH and Bodybuilding

By Bethany Jordin

Much too often, in the area of bodybuilding and sports, HGH is regarded to be the same as or similar to steroids. This is very unfortunate because steroids and HGH is highly different in more ways than one. Although steroids and HGH naturally exist in the body, there is a huge difference in the relationship between steroids and bodybuilding and HGH and bodybuilding. Let us look at the main differences.

One of the most important differences between the two substances is in their potential for causing side effects. The harmful side effects of steroid abuse are relatively well known, with side effects in men including shrinkage of the testicles, low sperm counts, impotence and the development of breasts in some individuals.

In women, steroid abuse can lead to changes in the menstrual cycle, deepening of the voice, growth of facial hair, reduction of the breast, and so on. This excludes other side effects such as rapid weight gain, clotting problems, liver damage, increased risk of cardiovascular disorders, and increase in cholesterol levels. It can also lead to psychological disorders and severe mood swings. More importantly, evidence suggests that the long term use of steroids can lead to addiction, such that stopping steroid use can lead to difficult withdrawal symptoms.

On the other hand, HGH is not completely side effect free, but HGH only leads to minor side effects which do not harm the body or the individual. There is talk about the negative effects of HGH. However, what you should realize is that these negative side effects lie not on HGH itself, but on its method of administration.

Injected HGH can cause some side effects such as inflammation in the joints, high blood pressure, abnormal bone growth and diabetic coma. These side effects happen because the HGH is coming from outside the body rather than being made from the pituitary gland as it naturally is.

HGH supplements are a safer alternative which are just as effective as other types of human growth hormone therapy. Since these supplements don't contain HGH, they are free of the risks of injection HGH therapy. Instead, these supplements are made with amino acids, minerals, vitamins and nutrients which help your body to make its own human growth hormone.

Unlike anabolic steroids, HGH does not show up during steroid tests. In fact, it can be extremely difficult to detect in the blood. In addition, compared to steroids, HGH is much easier to absorb in the body without the need for injections. These two are the main reasons why HGH is now extremely popular to body builders, athletes and regular consumers.

HGH's benefits for bodybuilding have been known for quite some time, with this hormone being considered a preferable alternative to steroids. It's safer and much less costly than steroids while being effective and free of side effects.
