The Indian Runner: A temperamental piece in reference to a youthful gentleman's efforts to comprehend, and get closer to, his brother who's just returned from Vietnam. The film is lazy at times, however filled with feeling and reality, and is relatively moving. Hefty acting jobs all around, with unconventional although powerful projecting of Bronson as the boys' depressed dad. Cast includes David Morse, Viggo Mortensen, Valeria Golino, Patricia Arquette, Charles Bronson, Sandy Dennis, Dennis Hopper, Benicio Del Toro, and Kenny Stabler. (125 minutes,'91)

Rocky Balboa: Rocky, now a 6O-ish widower and restaurant owner, who's disassociated from his business yuppie son (Ventimiglia), plans to re-enter the ring one last time to battle the present Heavyweight Champ. Not as poor as it may have been, even though it strains credibility; contrived, to be certain, although additionally curiously admiring. A number of ESPN-type Television identities appear as themselves. Cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Burt Youthful, Milo Ventimiglia, Geraldine Hughes, James Francis Kelly Sick, Tony Burton, A. J. Benza, Henry G. Sanders, and Antonio Tarver. (102 minutes, 2006)

The Shadow: Lamont Cranston, having lived a life of ethical degradation, is "reborn" as a single minded crime fighter with the talent to haze gentlemen's minds. This adaptation of the venerable mush novels and cherished radio shows (carried to the theaters before in the late'30s and in a'40 series) comes frustratingly close to succeeding, although flounders. Cranston is both inscrutable and boring. Incredible production layout and wonderful outcomes get lost in a film that keeps the viewer at Ann's magnitude all the way through. What a waste of an awesome supporting cast! Cast includes Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Peter Boyle, Ian McKellen, Tim Curry, Jonathan Winters, and Sab Shimono. (105 minutes,'94)

The Pawnbroker: This is a vital, preoccupying film. Steiger is phenomenal as Saul Nazerman, a Jewish pawnbroker in Harlem who lives in a protected environment with haunting memories of Nazi jail camps. Cast includes Rod Steiger, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Brock Peters, Jaime Sanchez, Thelma Oliver, Juano Hernandez, and Raymond St. Jacques. (116 minutes,'65)

Lightning the White Stallion: An incredibly weak family fare with Rooney a prosperous guy whose racehorse is stolen. Cast includes Mickey Rooney, Isabel Lorea, Susan George, and Billy Wesley. (95 minutes,'86)

Primal Fear: Hotshot Chicago lawyer defends an altar boy implicated of brutally killing a much loved archbishop even though all proof appears to point to the youthful gentleman's guilt. Gere gives a powerful performance in one of his best roles, as an arrogant attorney who, for once, doesn?t have all the facts straight. Newcomer Norton is additionally very impressive. The film loses some of its impact by going on too long and by following unconnected tale facets. Richard Gere, Laura Linney, John Mahoney, Alfie Woodard, Frances McDormand, Edward Norton, Terry O'Quinn, Andre Braugher, Steven Bauer, Joe Spanq, Tony Plana, Stanley Anderson, Maura Tierney, and Jon Seda. (129 minutes,'96)

A Life of Her Own: Turner is at the hub of 3-way romance leading to heartbreak for all. Dvorak wraps it up with her master depiction of an aging model. Cast includes Lana Turner, Ray MillaItd, Tom Ewell, Louis Calhern, Ann Dvornk, Margaret Phillips, Jean Hagen, Barry Sullivan, and Phyllis Kirk. (108 minutes,'50)
